The story of Primitivo IGP is lost in the mists of time; it was probably brought to Puglia by the Ilyrians from their native Balkans who were dedicated to the production of vines and then traded around the Mediterranean by the Phoenicians. Today Primitivo, along with the Negroamaro represents the most famous and most sought after of the wines of Salento; synonymous with quality and tradition along with the traditional method of vine training, the Alberello Pugliese bush vines. This system gives a very low yield per Hectare but also produces grapes of very good quality.
The harvest is early and done by hand, the grapes are then macerated in horizontal rotating vats before the wine is aged in french oak barriques for 6 months and then finally matured in bottle.
An intense ruby red colour with scarlet reflections; harmonious on the nose with notes of ripe red fruits and lightly spicy. In the mouth it is elegant and soft with low acidity and very ripe tannins.
Today Due Palme is the leader in foreign markets all around the globe: 37 countries worldwide accounting for 12 million bottles per annum. Just like the strong and warming sun of the Puglian region the energy of Cantine due Palme has blazed a trail and lit up the way towards realizing its own dream of spreading the quality of its wines to every corner of the world.
